PST IS2 Heavy Tank (1944) : with AB Figures Soviet crew figure

PST IS2M MODEL
I think from PST's Soviet WW2 AFV range the JS2 has to be my favourite and both kits build into interesting looking vehicles. I built this kit straight from the box with the only additions an antenna made from fine wire.

The kit went together well with a little filler need in some areas (ie hull joins). The link & length tracks went together okay but were a little tricky. I did take a little more time around the Drive sprockets (Actually had to file of one or two of the teeth done). I thinned the fenders a little and thinking on it maybe the hand holds and rear MG could have been replaced. (Good to see optional open hatch)

PAINTING AND DETAILING
I brush painted this one using various enamels starting with (Humbrol 33) Black as an under coat then painting the vehicle in (JP 149) Green then I washed the vehicle with black and burnt umber. I dry brushed the upper hull with (Humbrol 102) mixed with a pale stone shade then on the high edged in very light grey. The lower hull was dry brushed with shades of earth and stone. I also applied some dust/dirt in this manner by straight brushing it onto the vehicles. The figure is from AB Figures Soviet AFV Crew range.

I chickened out
attempting
the tow cables
at the back
of the vehicle as I was not so sure of the actual positioning.

The Heavy
Machine Gun on
the turret is
a nice touch

CONCLUSION
This is a nice kit and gave me a lot of enjoyment putting it together, detail is a little heavy in one or two areas but excellent in others and builds into a very nice representation of the vehicle. I would recommend this kit to other modellers.

Many thanks to Ian Hanratty for taking the pictures
