PST KV2 DREADNOUGHT: with AB Figures Soviet AFV Crew

PST KV2 MODEL
I built this kit straight from the box with the only additions a tow cable and antenna made from fine wire.

This was one of my first PST kits I completed and I really enjoyed building it. Mostly a good fit of parts although a little filler was needed in areas, the link and length track work excellent but a bit of time was needed around the sprocket teeth. I always like to include figures so it's good to see that PST kits have an optional open turret hatch.

PAINTING AND DETAILING
I brush painted my kit with Humbrol enamels (a dark green mixed with black as a base coat then the same green smoothed in). The kit was then given a wash (I sometimes have problems at this stage). I dry brushed with the same green mixed with light grey then finished with the light grey. Shades of earth brown and white were used on the substructure to replicate dust and dirt the tracks where painted panzer grey plus different red/browns for rust.

Many thanks
to Ian Hanrattyfrom the Glasgow Model Club for taking the pictures

FURTHER DETAILING
I added a few pox marks to simulate a vehicle just returned from the front. The wording is hand painted as I can never seem to get the decals to blend into my kits properly.

AB FIGURES
The figures are both from AB's Soviet AFV crew range, I feel they really finish off a kit. I painted my figures using acrylics

One is an NKVD officer inspecting the superficial damage to the KV2's turret and the other is one of the tankers relieved to make it back alive.

CONCLUSION
The PST range are excellent kits and I'm glad I stocked up on them when I got the chance. I would highly recommend them to fellow modellers. There are also a lot of after market items to super detail the vehicles if you like to take your kits that little bit further (turned gun barrel, brass fenders etc. . .). I would love to see someone have a go at the KV2 interior as there is a lovely big hatch at the rear.
