PLANET STURMTIGER : with AB Figures AFV Crew

STURMTIGER MODEL
I have a fondness for this kit as it was the first ever resin kit I bought and built and I really enjoyed the work involved. It can be finished straight from the box but there are a few errors with the kit and a I added quite a lot of extras too.

1) Care has to be taken to get the wheel positions right as the mistake was copied from the Hasagawa Late tiger original. 2) There looks to be a problem with the loading hatch on the roof. 3) The tracks supplied are for a panther (I switched my for a Hasagawa set).

DETAILING
I also added light, attachments and finished off the winch from my spares box. My zimmeritt coating and rivets were made with milliput.

The vehicles in the background were done by modellers from the glasgow model club

PAINTING
I Brush painted my kit using Humbro enamels Dark Yellow (94), Olive green (98/86), Red Brown (186) with the technique discribed in my Tips and tricks section, there weather was done with acrylic burnt umber and black (maybe a little heavy around some areas) and the tracs were painted with Grey 67 and a variety of reds I then dry brushed with light grey acrylic.

FIGURES
I added a couple of AB's German AFV to finish off my vehicle and am very happy with the finished results although the kit did need a bit of work. It's a pity the Revell late tiger wasen't around when the master was made :-)

Many thanks again to Ian Hanratty for the photos

CONCLUSION
I did enjoy putting this one together however there was quite a bit of work envolved with removing the resin plugs. At the time when this one was released it was an excellent buy but since the release of the Revell late tiger the chassis looks a bit dated. I'm not sure of all the options for Sturmtigers in 1/72 and 1/76 Scale and whether there is one utilising the Revell Tiger chassis?
